The Great Canadian Schism

Unfortunately, the Canadian Schism is very real, not like that weird Canadian "bacon".  On September 27th, 1968, the Canadian Council of Catholic Bishops issued The Winnipeg Statement, the official CCCB response to Humane Vitae.  The document declared that Canadian Catholics need not obey Church teaching on contraception.  The Winnipeg Statement has never been rescinded.  The Heresy Hunter,  one my favorite blogs, has posted some excerpts from Recovering Humane Vitae in Canada by Msgr.Vincent Foy.  The Msgr. writes,
In Canada dissent remains widespread and rarely checked. . . .  In truth, by the Winnipeg Statement, Canadian bishops became promoters of mass murder and complicit in turning thousands of sewers into tombs.
May God have mercy on us.

  1. Dude,..its getting better! Today we got ourselves a Saint in Brother Andre! As far as the Winnipeg statement goes, those Bishops and their ilk are either dead or retirment age and are being replaced by machines! Guys like Archbishop Prendergrast in Ottawa! Where I live,(Montreal) the younger generation of priests are all orthodox! God Bless! BTW,..Great blog!

  4. Just 'bacon.' What you guys call 'Canadian bacon,' we (Canadians) call it 'back bacon.'
